Visitors of the islands can expect to find lush vegetation, gorgeous white sands, and crystal clear waters awaiting them. Depp owns a village in the South of France. Below, we get a glimpse of the small restaurant and other buildings in the village. Johnny Depp’s Los Angeles real estate holdings have consolidated in recent years, as he has sold off multiple penthouses in Downtown LA in the Art Deco Eastern Columbia Building. One of the units, which he sold in 2017 for $1.425 million, was a 1-bedroom, 2-bathroom condo.

The island has been Depp’s private slice of paradise since 2004, but it was recently listed for sale as he is trying to liquidate his assets at the moment. He finally decided to trust his accountant and management when they said he had to downsize a bit. Named “Little Hall’s Pond Cay”, the island is 45 acres and features 6 beaches, which Depp named Paradis, Lily Rose, Jack, Brando, and Gonzo.

Depp purchased a 37-acre estate in 2001 which included an entire village built in 1812. After purchasing the village, Depp threw down an additional $10 million to restore and update many of the stone buildings on the estate. He is mainly of European descent; however, there is a bit of an interesting detail in the background of his ancestry. He can be traced back to a black slave named Martha whose daughter was the first female slave to free herself using the legal system. Elizabeth Key’s father was a white Englishman and she used the fact that she had an English father as her defense to win freedom for both her and her son. The unit featured vaulted ceilings and exposed brick walls in the master suite as well as a marble bathroom and a lounge area.
Depp is definitely known for his style and his slick shades are a huge part of that considering he wears them on the red carpet all the time. Our insider tells us that Lemtosh Sun from Moscot is his preferred sunglass of choice in recent years. By the way, our insider happens to be Moscot themselves who have a page dedicated to him here. There’s even a scuba diving spot not far from the island that Depp calls “Heath’s place” after the late actor Heath Ledger.

He has property in Los Angeles, France (he owns a village, guys!), and the Bahamas (he owns an island, guys!). Recent reports state that Depp also recently purchased an estate in Somerset, England in 2023 – though nothing about the property has been revealed yet. It’s called Le Plan-de-la-Tour, France and is ten miles from Saint-Tropez, France.
What we can confirm is the size of the main house. The Observation Deck or Tom Bradley Tower located on the 27th floor is open to the public. Access to City Hall is located off of Main St. The rotunda is located on the 3rd floor accessible by all elevators. To access the Tom Bradley Tower requires the “Express Car Only” for floors 1, 3, and 10 through 22 elevators.

An observation level is open to the public on the 27th floor. As this ample interior space is named, the Mayor Tom Bradley Room is used for ceremonies and other special occasions. There are over a dozen structures that collectively measure over 10,000 square feet and boast a whopping 15-bedrooms and 14-bathrooms. Some of the most notable features to the village include a church that Depp converted into a guest house, a swimming pool, a private restaurant named “Cafe Marcheline”, and an art studio. Johnny Depp bought the property in 1995 for $1.8 million. It’s reported that the compound has 5 houses.
As alluded to above, Affinity Designer is primarily for those who don't want to pay the Adobe monthly tribute. So it's a good option for design amateurs, but pros will appreciate some of its capabilities as well. "No subscription" sums up the main reason to go with Affinity Designer. More than that, though, for its low one-time price, you do get a good helping of vector drawing tools, as well as generous font support and its unique Contour tool for joining shapes organically. Adobe XD is one case of a product from Adobe that's not actually the industry standard. In the field it inhabits (interface design and prototyping) the product to reckon with is Sketch, which now faces competition from Figma, which Adobe acquired in 2022 for $20 billion.

While MSI's Prestige 16 AI Evo is a bodacious bargain if you can live without a discrete GPU, the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Ultra gives us little to gripe about except its steep price. We suspect quite a few buyers will snub it for its less-than-4K screen resolution, but its screen quality is first-class otherwise. This Galaxy Book falls short of Editors' Choice honors as a result, but it's worth a spot on your list of desktop alternatives if you can nab a discount. We run the same general productivity benchmarks across both mobile and desktop systems. Our first test is UL's PCMark 10, which simulates a variety of real-world productivity and office workflows to measure overall system performance and also includes a storage subtest for the primary drive. Two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports join an HDMI monitor port on the laptop's left side.

The same applies to the 1TB SSD that you get, as storage is another thing that Apple tends to be a bit stingy about. It’s true that the ASUS ROG Zephyrus M16 is essentially a gaming laptop, but you’d probably not be surprised to find out that there is quite an overlap between gaming needs and engineering app needs. For example, CAD apps like AutoCAD and Solidworks tend to be quite resource-heavy when you’re trying to run them, so you need the same sort of beefy specs that come with a gaming laptop. The only real difference is that you might not need a really powerful GPU for engineering, although this configuration of the Zephyrus M16 does have it if you need it.

In order to run graphics-intensive programs effectively, your laptop needs plenty of RAM, a powerful processor running the show, a high-resolution and color-accurate display, and a discrete GPU if you can afford it. Then, your laptop needs enough speedy SSD storage to download and store your graphic design files. The unique dual display setup of this 2-in-1 makes it a powerhouse productivity laptop for graphic designers. You can use the two displays like a dual monitor setup, fold them to use individually or use both as tablets at the same time. In our colorimeter test, the top display covered 136.5% of the DCI-P3 color gamut test with the bottom display scoring similarly at 136.7%.

But if you're going to be using the device primarily for video editing, this shouldn't be a dealbreaker. We also wish the laptop wasn't so heavy and that it had a more diverse array of ports, but the included adapter does make up for that a little bit. While we haven't personally tested the Dell XPS 15, our friends over at PCMag (owned by Mashable's publisher, Ziff Davis) did, and they liked what they saw quite a bit.

(Apple's M1 processors are an exception, as their "system on a chip" design integrates multiple CPU and GPU cores into a single piece of silicon). The late 2020 release of a new Mac Mini based on Apple's M1 SoC gives the compact desktop system a considerable graphics boost that might attract the attention of creative users working from home. Unusually for Apple, the M1 Mac Mini even came with a price cut, now starting at $699 with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of solid-state storage. It's just a shame that Apple continues to charge such high prices for its RAM and storage upgrades.
Best laptops for graphic design in 2024 - TechRadar
We mentioned the 2021 model in particular because it straddles the line between being budget-friendly and housing great hardware. The majority of 2022 Swift 3 laptops are substantially more expensive, but if you want more power, you have the option to upgrade. Its dual OLED screens not only offer vivid colors and deep blacks essential for accurate graphic work but also provide up to 9.5 hours of battery life, extendable with strategic screen use. Professionals and power-users will want to opt for portables that ramp up the power and performance as high and as hard as they go. Graphic design apps like Adobe Illustrator can take their toll on hardware, so it’s important to select one that can manage running them smoothly without any lag. Ideally, you'll want a CPU with four, six or more cores to run creative software as well.

If you're running the best graphic design software, you'll need ample power and an excellent display to render your creative works, and that's exactly what we look for when we test laptops for graphic design. Whether you’re creating a sleek new logo for your company or a magazine cover that’s popping with bright colors and interesting shapes, graphic designers need the right kind of laptop to get the job done. For tasks like 3D modeling, you’re going to need a powerful CPU and a good amount of RAM. Depending on the size and complexity of the project, you may need a processor with multiple cores. They are often equipped with some of the most powerful processors in the tech industry.
We gave the last slot to Acer's ultralight Swift Edge 16, because we were curious to see how its AMD Ryzen CPU would stack up and because its price ($1,299.99 as tested) undercuts even the bargain MSI Prestige 16 AI Evo. The apps are of no use to owners of different devices (Bixby? Still? Seriously?), but a plus for the Samsung ecosystem. If you order a Galaxy Book4 Ultra from Samsung's website, you'll find possible savings via trade-in promotions but need to uncheck a box lest you be charged an extra $90 for a 2TB external solid-state drive.

We went hands-on with several all-in-one computers across various categories, covering different price points, use cases, and operating systems. Our top pick is Apple's 24-inch iMac, which was chosen for its strong performance, high-resolution display, and eye-catching design. Of course, the iMac is not the only option out there, and we found plenty of appealing Windows-based choices for different needs. Read on for the rest of our picks to help you find the best AIO computer for you. If you’re buying a desktop PC for gaming, you should probably pick one that can be upgraded.
The incredibly powerful computer in a compact case can be used as a portable workstation for a graphic designer. The configurable and expandable Mac Pro has been listed in the TOP of the best computers for graphic design for the 3rd year in a row. A variety of configurations allows choosing a suitable option for any work task and budget. The configuration with 16 GB of RAM is optimal for working with all types of content (photo, video, or raster and vector graphics). A low-end 256 GB SSD storage will accommodate most of Adobe Creative Suite, but for extra storage, 1 TB SSD space is a safe pick.
Below are today's entry-level gaming laptop GPUs, starting with AMD's. Now we'll get into gaming-specific and workstation-minded laptop GPUs. We'll organize this section by the tiers mentioned above, from entry-level to high-end. We would suggest around 16GB, but this can be rare if you’re sticking to a tighter budget. While you’d be fine with 8GB of RAM in some cases, you’d need at least 16GB for a smooth experience.

Some of my favorite places to find furniture, linens, and decor with a modern beach house aesthetic include Jenni Kayne, Serena & Lily and Dear Keaton. Try using these spirited naturals on walls or on larger upholstered pieces, like sofas. It's not only the interior you should invest energy into when decorating. Remember to take the beach vibe outside by planting beachy trees and flowers, adding a few marine life stands, or creating an entire living room outdoors. According to Real Homes, stringing up a hammock or adding a cozy hanging chair will instantly add coastal vibes to your yard.

Moving on from how to get the coastal look into your living room to how you can incorporate it in your bedroom, we reckon the easiest way to bring any trend into a bedroom is with bedding because it's quick to do and it's (relatively) cheap. For coastal interiors, the obvious choice to go for is stripes, but we also love the relaxed look of linen bedsheets, in sea-inspired colours – think calming blues, crisp whites and sandy beige. A quick and easy way to get a lovely, light, beach house look is to use paint. Give your walls a lick of a new coastal colour to instantly transform it into a room that just feels like it belongs by the sea. We love this lovely duck egg blue, it works so nicely with creams and wooden accents.

Even a few pieces like anchor motifs, coastal style towels, or marine wallpapers can do the job. However, Real Homes advises against overcrowding your bathroom with too many knickknacks. Often it takes nothing more than a few palm fronds, a maritime porthole mirror, or rope baskets to add a calm and chic touch. Similarly, all-white kitchens add a coastal touch to summer homes (via Real Homes). In this case, you can do the painting yourself and arrange a focal display of ocean-inspired crockery and decor. Finally, incorporate a wooden countertop to lift the look and opt for kitchenware in bright colors like yellow or blue for contrast.

"Introducing a woven texture in an accent furniture piece or a wall covering while keeping the larger pieces more neutral can quickly bring about a seaside feel." While we may think of blues and greens—and even beige—as the necessary color palette for coastal décor, you can certainly veer from the expected. Seashell tones like pink and orange, for example, lend themselves naturally to seaside-inspired designs. They work especially well in small spaces, like powder rooms and entryways.

Summary: Best Construction Loan Lenders of April 2024
If you’re buying a tract home, the land price will be rolled into the overall price to build a home. If you’re buying a lot on your own and then building a custom home, you can expect to pay between $2,100 and $9,200 to clear the land if you hire an excavation contractor. If you build in a rural location where city services like water, sewer, and electrical connections aren’t nearby, getting the services to your lot could cost up to six figures, Aballi says. A general contractor will oversee the entire process of building your custom home — they will also be responsible for hiring and paying subcontractors, vendors, and construction workers. General contractors typically charge a “cost-plus” fee arrangement, which accounts for the cost of the labor and materials plus a negotiated fee for the general contractor. This usually comes out to 10% to 20% of the final cost of the build.

Construction loan interest rates are higher because lenders see them as high-risk, as no home exists yet to serve as collateral should the borrower default. Higher rates also serve as an incentive for builders to complete the project in a timely fashion. Builders make tiny houses from repurposed metal shipping containers. They design and build them to look as modern or as eccentric as you’d like. The shipping container has both the style and function to be an excellent choice for those looking to build a home, cabin, or guest house. Addressing this year’s project with an intrinsic curiosity, creatives were invited to explore their emotional connection to the design process. A great logo shows the world what you stand for, makes people remember your brand, and helps potential customers understand if your product is right for them. Logos communicate all of that through color, shape and other design elements. You can use the best logo makers to create eye-catching designs even if you've never made one before. Logo makers typically employ a drag-and-drop interface, so all you need to do is select vector graphics, choose a color, and move them into position.

"So the process of express shipping had become generic. We advised that the company needed to leverage its most valuable asset, and that is the FedEx brand." "When you take a bite out of an apple, it stays sort of bite-shaped, it doesn't collapse as a peach would," he explained. "It was to make it look more like an apple, and to give it scale – because people's mouths are a certain size and an apple is a certain size, and the bite would be a size relater.

The design of your logo is as vital to carving out your niche as creating a unique value proposition. Pictorial marks, also known as logo symbols, are logo types that rely on a single image to represent a brand. These logos can be iconic and memorable and are effective at conveying a brand without text, yet may pose challenges in establishing brand recognition and connecting to the brand's purpose without words. Logos are meant to represent your company on multiple platforms — in print, on your website, on each of your social media business pages, and across the internet as your business grows.
"We are excited to honor our storied history through the return of the white facemask," Cleveland Browns Partner JW Johnson said in a statement. "As we continue to write the next chapter of Browns' history, we reflect on different eras, such as the Kardiac Kids and the return of the franchise, that led us to this place in time." "We're grateful for the engagement and creativity of ownership, the players, our business and football leadership, Nike and especially the best fans in the NFL during this process. Great product, even better customer service
After all, there are so many businesses around the world and so many logos being designed every day to represent them. And yet, there are some logos that always come up time and time again in these best-of conversations. What the following logos have in common is the way they have stood the test of time, either by the iconic designers who created them or through an effective rebranding campaign. With all that said, here are some of the best of each type of logo. Matthieu Blazy and Bottega Veneta partnered with Cassina and Fondation Le Corbusier for the indoor installation, adding the architect and designer’s Cabanon stools, which dominated most of the exhibition space. Each piece was meticulously enveloped in Bottega Veneta’s Intreccio foulard technique, meticulously hand-woven at the House’s artisanal atelier in Montebello, near Vicenza.
They are easy to remember and scale, but may require displaying the full brand name initially for recognition and could be confused with other brands if the initials are similar. Wordmarks are text-based logos that use typography to turn the brand name into a logo, ideal for companies with unique names. They offer simplicity and integration ease, but may struggle to stand out or suit longer, less distinctive names. It’s better to follow the process through to completion and end with a remarkable logo than to start over a few months later due to a design error or change of heart. Once you feel your logo design is ready, consider sharing it with others and seeking constructive feedback. The whitespace between different elements of your logo is the unsung hero of your design and the secret you must uncover in this step of the process.

This eye-catching display features colorful layers of fabric gently swaying in the breeze, held down by circular plastic-like weights beneath each strand. Visitors were invited to wander through the installation, following a maze-like path to get a closer look at the materials. Straordinaria was a collaboration between Studio we+, Elica, and Fondazione Ermanno Casoli, curated by Marcello Smarrelli. Inspired by the lightness of clouds, the artwork aimed to evoke a sense of dynamism and radiance, utilizing airy materials to capture the flow of air and warmth. The installation takes visitors into the creative universe of the Italian architect, designer and artist, through the eyes of the French creator. The show serves as a sensory, immaterial journey into Mendini’s subconscious, with his voice and his laughter, mixed, distorted, and superimposed, transporting us into an elsewhere beyond gravity.

When the winch lowering the lifeboat jams, Alex jumps into the boat to rescue the passengers, while Annie and Juliano use the ship's gangplank to get them back on deck. Another inventor named Harold Exline, working independently of Riley, also invented a type of cruise control that he first installed on his car and friends' cars. In an effort to establish a link to “Speed,” Annie is presented as a woman whose big problem is her inability to maintain a decent relationship. Still hurt by her breakup with Jack (Reeves), she believes that “relationships based on extreme circumstances never work.” Indeed, it takes some subtle maneuvering on the part of Alex — and a pair of tickets for a Caribbean cruise — to pacify Annie. This reel, in which the lovers bicker and reconcile in the manner of screwball comedy, is rather slow and not well performed; neither thesp is particularly adept at light romantic banter.

Even some of the biggest actors in Hollywood have starred in some duds, so Sandra Bullock is not alone in this one. The opening sequence, which introduces the two romantic leads as they go about their business, is quite promising. Taking her driving test, the vehicularly challenged Annie Porter (Bullock) proves to be a chatty and clumsy driver, exasperating her hapless examiner (Tim Conway).
Filming
The cruise control takes its speed signal from a rotating driveshaft, speedometer cable, wheel speed sensor from the engine's RPM, or internal speed pulses produced electronically by the vehicle. Most systems do not allow the use of the cruise control below a certain speed - typically around 25 or 30 mph (40 or 48 km/h). The vehicle will maintain the desired speed by pulling the throttle cable with a solenoid, a vacuum-driven servomechanism, or by using the electronic systems built into the vehicle (fully electronic) if it uses a 'drive-by-wire' system. The throttle position was automatically adjusted by a vacuum control that opened and closed the throttle based on input from the speedometer cable rather than through an adjustable control on the dashboard.[10][11] The unit would shut off anytime the brakes were applied. The movie stars Sandra Bullock, from "Speed", and Jason Patric as her boyfriend.

Alex jumps off, uses a speed boat, and pursues Geiger to a seaplane. Alex shoots at it from the boat with a speargun and reels himself in through the water. He climbs onto the plane, rescues Annie, and both escape from the plane on one of its floats, which falls onto the ocean. Geiger attempts to fly over the oil tanker, but the plane becomes impaled on the ship's foremast, causing both to explode. The tanker crew however are safe, having launched their lifeboat just in time, leaving Geiger to die in the ensuing explosion. Annie and Alex travel back to shore in the speed boat, and he gives her an engagement ring, asking her if she will "wear this for a while", and she accepts.
Box Office: A24’s ‘Civil War’ Fends Off Three New Movies to Remain No. 1
Modern cruise control (also known as a speedostat or tempomat) was invented in 1948 by the blind inventor and mechanical engineer Ralph Teetor.[4][5] He came up with the idea due to being frustrated by his driver's habit of speeding up and slowing down as he talked. Turns out that Annie's (Sandra Bullock) relationship with Jack didn't work out, and now she is seeing another police officer named Alex (Jason Patric). He takes her to a trip to the Caribbean, aboard the cruise ship Seabourn Legend. Unfortunately, the easy-going vacation comes to a halt as a disgruntled computer programmer named John Geiger (Willem Dafoe) takes control of the ship, and sets it up with explosives. To avoid collision with the oil tanker, Alex and Dante go into the ship's bilge and use the bow thrusters to turn it. The ship screeches down the side of the tanker, but manages to withstand the damage, and heads straight into a marina.
The crew notices that Geiger has set the ship to crash into an oil tanker off the coast of Saint Martin. Alex decides to stop the ship by diving underneath it and jamming the propeller with a steel cable. Geiger realizes that Alex is trying to stop the ship, so he jams the cable winch while Alex is underwater, causing it to break off the ship and free the cable. Geiger takes Annie hostage and escapes with her on a boat from the ship's stern.

Insurmountable and daunting tasks awaits them on their perilous journey throughout the ship trying to fend off the hijacker and save the passengers. In this one, if the ocean liner doesn't stop, everyone will get killed. Annie and Dante, the ship's photographer, notice the people trapped behind the fire doors, and use a chainsaw to cut the door open and bail them out on the other side of the hallway. Meanwhile, Alex orders the navigator, Merced, to flood the ship and slow it down by opening the ballast doors. As the ship floods, Alex sees Drew on a monitor after she climbs out of the elevator, and runs to save her.

It’s hard not to notice the “correct” thinking that went into determining the passengers’ demographics. The novelty here may be in assigning large-size Debbie (Colleen Camp) and Harvey (Michael G. Hagerty), a couple who share an extraordinary passion for food, more substantial parts than is the norm. The ship itself is of course supplied with a cross-section of typical passengers, who in addition to the diamond dealers include a fat-acceptance group and a deaf girl who gets trapped in an elevator and can't hear the abandon-ship alarm. The captain is thrown overboard early in the film, after Geiger explains his grievance. (Seems like a waste, somehow, to go to the trouble of lodging your complaint with someone you immediately kill.) Then it's up to the hero and his girlfriend to save the day. A governor was used by James Watt and Matthew Boulton in 1788 to control steam engines, but the use of governors dates at least back to the 17th century.
De Bont remains an expert director of action, but putting the reference to cruise control in the title serves as fair warning of an unengaged filmmaker on automatic pilot. A disgruntled former employee hijacks the Seabourn Legend cruise liner. Set on a fixed course, without any means of communication and at the mercy of the hijacker, it's up to the one cop on vacation, and his soon to be fiancé (hopefully) Annie, to regain control of it before it kills the passengers and causes an environmental disaster.
They truly ruined a whole franchise in just two movies...never seen something like this, can't even reboot it now... Willem Dafoe, though effective in nearly every villain role, is a bit overdone as a psychopath with a penchant for leech therapy. This Keanu Reeves-less sequel is masked by its commitment to non-stop action and entertainment, that you're almost distracted from its shortcomings, of which there are many.
At the same time, boyfriend Alex Shaw (Patric) is on his motorcycle, chasing down a truck loaded with stolen computers; unbeknownst to her, he is a member of an elite SWAT unit. Speed 2 is frantic action, tinny dialogue, perfunctory characterization and tried-and-false plot pilferings. Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) cop Alex Shaw is on a motorcycle chasing a vehicle with stolen goods. After he catches the driver of the vehicle, his girlfriend Annie Porter runs into him during her driving test.
Speed control existed in early automobiles such as the Wilson-Pilcher in the early 1900s. Using a speedboat and a helicopter, the final hunt is fast-paced, offering the kind of jolt audiences will eagerly embrace. Aboard the ship, deranged passenger John Geiger, a former employee of the cruise company, hacks into the ship's computer system, and the following evening, he sabotages the ship's communication systems and kills Captain Pollard.
She finds out that Alex is on the SWAT team after he lied and told her that he was a beach officer. As an apology, Alex surprises her with a Caribbean cruise on Seabourn Legend. While the actor has expressed in the past how pleased she was to be involved with The Lost City, she did reveal on a promotional tour for the movie one flick she is 'still embarrassed' about to this day.
